Shop & Office

75’ by 72’-6”, 11,950 square foot, 3-storey, steel-clad wood-framed structure.

To make the most of limited property space, building was designed to maximize a small footprint.  

Ground floor includes shop to maintain equipment and employee lockers to store gear. 

Space includes galley kitchen to complement training exercises and company meetings, reverse osmosis bottle filling system and washroom with shower.

Training area includes steel structure and ceiling that extends to the underside of the roof trusses. Structure will permit a tree trunk to be erected for arborist and fall protection training purposes. Training area includes 3rd Floor level windows that provide natural light to both the space below and the office space above.

Second floor mezzanine provides storage and utility room.

Third floor overlooks the training area and includes individual offices on the outside to capitalize on natural light, with a centrally located boardroom with adjacent reception area.

A bright environment is provided to all areas – from the shop below to the offices above – through the combination of natural light through large windows and polycarbonate translucent overhead doors and artificial light from high bay & pot light fixtures.

Offices and common areas are heated with residential-type propane-fueled furnaces and cooled with air conditioning. Shop is heated with radiant heaters, complimented with fan forced heater.

(5) commercial polycarbonate translucent overhead doors provide natural light into the shop, tree room and receiving rooms. All overhead doors are equipped with power door operators for ease of operation.

Shop safety includes CO and NO2 gas detection system interlocked to louvre and fan system.

Includes (2) electric vehicle charging connections.

Includes 138,500 litre cistern for fire protection services. Constructed with poured-in-place bottom and concrete sides, capped with hollow core precast and covered with soil. Suction pipe and valve installed to local fire protection requirements.

Includes new septic system.

Building construction activities were coordinated with ongoing business operations.
